Everybody wants things done fast. The Internet and our culture of instantaneous gratification has put our patience on hold. What’s the impact of this on work culture? Well, it creates an environment that says quicker is better. Is it? I believe that the quality of our work and relationships has been degraded because of this thinking.
Have you had any of the following experiences?
- You sent an email out too fast that has gotten you into trouble
- You hurt a relationship because you made assumptions about what someone was saying (did you not stop to think before speaking?)
- Something got past you that should have been reviewed before going out
- A quick decision ended up being a bad decision
- You find you are not productive, but are doing a lot
- Your team’s work is NOT at a quality level that you would like it to be
What do you think would happen if you slowed down and paid attention more? I think you’d get more done (more to come)…Post your responses…

In parts of Europe, workers take a break in the middle of the day to spend time with their families, eat and nap. Statistically, they are happier than their counterparts in the U.S. What is the true health impact of how we structure our work life. And, what about the “power nap” and other energizing activities? Send along your thoughts.

I’ve been part of the creation of many endeavors, from projects, to businesses, to community-based organizations. I’ve had the pleasure of looking at the world from a different vantage point on many occasions and I started this blog to bring different views and hopefully encourage others to share theirs. I’m dedicated to giving to those who are open to receiving what I’ve learned and exploring ways of creating new forms of thinking, doing and being in the world…with a focus on the culture of work. I welcome your thoughts and comments.
