OK, so we’ve heard of web 2.0, the world of user-generated content…now web 3.0 search on steroids. So, what’s next?! You know how I feel about buzz, well, Seth Godin and others talk about Web 4.0. Intelligent machines telling us what to do and when…keeping track of our every move and making sure we are acting on them (see http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2007/01/web4.html). I think I’m about to lose my lunch! Will you guys please shut up!!
Can they sit still for a minute? Unfortunately, anyone who is that intense may find themselves in ICU after the insertion of numberous stents or worse…
Well, I think it’s my turn to set loose a definition of Web 5.0. (select the comment link below for my definition of Web 5.0)

New Definition of Web 5.0
The interaction between two or more human beings in each others physical presence using verbal and non-verbal communications skills to create dialogue. Web 5.0 does not rely on any technology to bring people together. This can lead to euphoria, bliss, sadness, anger and a full range of other emotions that occur when humans interact in person. Web, in this definition, refers to the web of the human community we weave together as a species.
I think we should end with 5.0–doesn’t the Rambo series end with 5? Most movies hit three or four (Lethal Weapon, The Terminator, Bourne Identity, Mad Max, The Godfather, Aliens)…and fade away into bad-movie land–look what happens after 5–Police Academy! Star Wars, Harry Potter and Saw (please stop this madness!).
With most sequels, you rarely get past II as being very good movies; with the exception of Lord of the Rings and Rocky Balboa (6) (which I’ve heard is pretty good).
So, please join me in banning any mention of Web x.0…go against the grain, turn off your computer, your cell phone and any other electronic communications device and meet a friend for a cup of coffee or tea and do that wonderful thing we call “creating a conversation”….
